Christmas Bird Count
Join the Forsyth Audubon Society on December 16 to participate in the Christmas Bird Count. It will be held at Hanging Rock State Park, from 8:00 am until 5:00 that evening.
The Christmas Bird Count is a national event in which thousands of people across the country collect data to assess the health of bird populations.
Please wear sturdy hiking shoes and be prepared to be outdoors in any weather conditions. No experience is necessary. Bring binoculars if you have them. The park has a limited number of pairs that can be borrowed. Counters will need to meet at the visitor center by 8:00am. A $5 fee will be collected from each participant over 18 years of age by the Audubon Society. This money is used to cover the costs of the Christmas Bird Count.
If you plan to participate in the event, please pre-register by calling the park office at 336-593-8480.
