FRIDAY Market Reminder: Goat Cheese Winston-Salem Farmer's Market

You'll find us every Friday morning until the end of September at the Reynolda Village Farmer's Market.

We'll be sampling a few of our cheeses each week, so be sure to stop by! Each week, we pack the coolers with a variety of out goat milk cheeses and bring along a variety of our handmade recycled feed sack tote bags.

Rabies Clinic - Lawsonville, NC

RABIES CLINIC!!! There will be a RABIES CLINIC on Saturday, August 3rd at the Lawsonville Volunteer Fire Department, 1013 Fire Rescue Lane, Lawsonville, NC. The time is from 9:00 am until 12 Noon. Cost is $8.00 per animal, CASH ONLY. Proof of current rabies vaccination is required to get a three year shot. Registered microchips will be available for $20.00. This event is sponsored by the STOKES COUNTY HUMANE SOCIETY.

Diamondback Grill Farmer's Market


We'll be at Diamondback Grill this Thursday, July 25, from 5:30 until 7:30 at their Farmers Market. Come out and have a great dinner and do some local shopping too. We'll be sampling three of our farmstead goat's milk cheeses.

The Diamondback Grill is a friendly local restaurant with an emphasis on farm-to-table food.

Our bar opens nightly at 5:00 pm with dinner service beginning at 5:30 pm.  Daily dinner and drink specials are available.

The Diamondback is owned by Kimberly and Murphy Gregg of Winston-Salem, NC.  Originally Diamondback Grill included Murphy's parents, his brother Mike and his wife, later joined by Murphy's wife Kimberly.

Since May, you've been able to find us at the King Farmers' Market in the parking lot of the Stokes Family YMCA on Wednesdays from 11am until 1pm.

The advantages of sustainable farming will be bounding from the marketplace and into the Single Brothers Garden this Saturday! The Peppercorn Children's Theater comes to Old Salem Museums and Gardens with their newest performance, "Way Down Yonder (in the Paw Paw Patch)", sponsored by Cobblestone Farmers Market vendor, Sugar Creek FarmJoin brother and sister, Sol and Luna, as they search for the legendary Paw-Paw Patch. Learn about the earth, farming, and the day-to-day lives of the Aeternus family as they outwit the diabolical Herman Ease, who plots to buy their family farm. Folk music, storytelling and even a talking rooster await in this exciting adventure that will have the whole family laughing. 


Check them out in the Single Brothers Garden after you shop! Saturday's showtimes are 11am and 2pm; tickets are $5.

We'll be sampling a few of our cheeses, so be sure to stop by for a taste! Each week, we pack the coolers with a variety of our goat milk cheeses and bring along a variety of our handmade recycled feed sack tote bags.

Buffalo Creek Farm and Creamery is located on Buffalo Creek Farm Road in Germanton, NC near the intersection of Hwy 65 and Hwy 8 (Germanton Road) at the Forsyth / Stokes County line. We are a few miles north of Winston-Salem and a short drive from Rural Hall, King, Walkertown, Kernersville, Walnut Cove, Danbury, High Point, Greensboro, Pilot Mountain, Mt. Airy and other communities in the Piedmont of North Carolina and Virginia. School Gardening 101

Virtual seats are still available in our fully online course "School Gardening 101," which begins July 15. Please, feel free to forward this message to your Extension Educators, Master Gardeners, and others who work with schools to establish and maintain schoolyard gardens.

School Gardening 101 is designed to increase educator, volunteer, and gardening coordinator knowledge about how to begin a successful schoolyard garden. Participants will be guided through four modules:
The Benefits of School Gardens
Gathering Support
What is a School Garden
Connecting to the Curriculum
Each module contains slide presentations, video presentations, printable materials, and resource links to help participants meet the course requirements. Upon completion of the course, participants will be able to:
Identify the student-related benefits of school gardens and understand the research-based results of such programs.
Demonstrate the process and procedures necessary for effectively starting and maintaining a school garden program.
Apply an understanding that the type of garden and theme can increase usage, stewardship, accessibility, and curriculum retention.
Determine potential curricular materials and resources that will connect the garden's purpose to standardized testing requirements.
