Christmas in the Carolinas During the Civil War

Join the Bennett Place as they celebrate the Christmas holidays during the time of the American Civil War. The Bennett House and farm will be decorated modestly as they would have been done in Piedmont North Carolina during the 1860's. Civilians and Southern soldiers will bring the farm to life with a variety of activities to include the traditional roasting of the Hog's Head. Chicken Stew Cook Off

Saturday, November 20 Stokes- Reynolds Memorial Hospital will host a Chicken Stew Cook Off on the hospital grounds. This is a community-wide event and everyone eats free. Stew must be cooked on site and entrants must cook it with gas. Prizes will be awarded. Those interested in participating as entrants should contact Carol Tilley or Keith Lawson at 593-2831 for more information. The stew should be ready to eat by 3:30 pm. Everyone is welcome to attend and enjoy!

W-S Light Project

Third annual public art presentation using prominent downtown landmarks as the canvas. Six locations between Fourth and Fifth and Cherry and Marshall streets will challenge the viewer to experience new and dynamic ways to view themselves and Winston's urban environment. The Holly Jolly Craft Show will take place on November 12th & 13th inside the South Fork Community Center Ballroom on Country Club Road in Winston-Salem.
