Farmer Appreciation Day
On Thursday, March 24, the Annual Farmer Appreciation event will be held at South Stokes High School in Walnut Cove from 6-9 p.m. This event is organized each year by the local farm service offices and is sponsored by local businesses.
This year’s menu will consist of chopped BBQ or chicken, potato salad, slaw, rolls, pintos, dessert and a drink, and is free to all who attend. The entertainment for the night will be provided by the “Blues Creek” bluegrass band. At 8 p.m., door prizes will be given away, and a raffle drawing will be held for a chainsaw and cash prize.
Those who plan to attend are asked to please call 593-8179 or 593-2846, ext. 3, to help organizers better prepare for the event. Everyone is invited to come out and enjoy an evening of food, fun and fellowship and to join in to express appreciation to the hardworking farmers and their families.
