Butter Keeper
These are not the commercially made bells for your butter, but instead they have been lovingly made by hand by a NC potter. They are available in assorted solid and mixed colors of blue, gray, brown and red. By using this style of butter keeper, you can keep butter at room temperature safely like so many have done since the late 19th century. The bell will keep the butter fresh and consistently spreadable.
The bell shaped butter keeper comes with a card telling how to use it properly; we also sell the Amish rolled butter that can be used in them!
Available in our farm store!

Stokes County Farm Featured in Flavor, NC Episode
Stokes County Farm Featured in Flavor, NC Episode
Plum Granny Farm, a small USDA Certified Organic Farm, is featured in a new episode of Flavor, NC. Airing on November 14 at 10:00 p.m. (as well as rebroadcasts on November 16 and 17), this episode focuses on the garlic and other specialty crops that farm owners Cheryl Ferguson and Ray Tuegel grow on their farm located just outside of King. The farm is the first in the northern Piedmont to be featured in the series’ three years.
“We are honored to be chosen for this episode,” said Cheryl. “Our approach to the farm has been to grow crops that aren’t typically found in the area and to make them our signature crops. We have been able to do that with specialty crops such as garlic and ginger.” Plum Granny Farm is one of the largest garlic producers in the Piedmont.
In addition to the farm’s profile, the episode also features Lucky 32 Southern Kitchen in Greensboro and its Executive Chef, Jay Pierce. Chef Jay,a regular customer for the farm’s products, prepares four recipes using Plum Granny Farm’s garlic including Barley Risotto, Mushroom and Roasted Garlic Soup and Chimichurri Sauce.
Flavor, NC is a UNC-TV series dedicated to preserving and celebrating North Carolina’s agricultural heritage. Flavor, NC savors the tastes of North Carolina and celebrates the farmers and food artisans working to keep Tar Heel agriculture growing. In every episode, host Lisa Prince takes viewers on a journey across the state to discover a particular Tar Heel favorite. Flavor, NC is written and produced by BlueWater Media, a video production company with offices in Raleigh and Danbury.
Plum Granny Farm, located just south of Hanging Rock State Park, produces garlic, brambles (raspberries and blackberries), ginger and turmeric as well as heirloom and other specialty crops such as asparagus, artichokes, and fingerling potatoes. The farm sells its products at the Cobblestone Old Salem Farmers Market and the King Farmers Market as well as to restaurants and food hubs. Jams and sauces are also available on their website: www.plumgrannyfarm.com.
