School Gardening 101

Virtual seats are still available in our fully online course "School Gardening 101," which begins July 15. Please, feel free to forward this message to your Extension Educators, Master Gardeners, and others who work with schools to establish and maintain schoolyard gardens.

School Gardening 101 is designed to increase educator, volunteer, and gardening coordinator knowledge about how to begin a successful schoolyard garden. Participants will be guided through four modules:
The Benefits of School Gardens
Gathering Support
What is a School Garden
Connecting to the Curriculum
Each module contains slide presentations, video presentations, printable materials, and resource links to help participants meet the course requirements. Upon completion of the course, participants will be able to:
Identify the student-related benefits of school gardens and understand the research-based results of such programs.
Demonstrate the process and procedures necessary for effectively starting and maintaining a school garden program.
Apply an understanding that the type of garden and theme can increase usage, stewardship, accessibility, and curriculum retention.
Determine potential curricular materials and resources that will connect the garden's purpose to standardized testing requirements.
We look forward to your joining us for School Gardening 101. Register now!
